Cascadas de Huigra

Set in the heart of Ecuadorean cloud forest the Angus and Panama waterfalls make for a stunning day trip. Supercharged by late winter rains, the river surges over first the Panama then the Angus, whipping up a fine spray in the process. Follow an old footpath to the base of the Angus to appreciate the raw energy of this torrent or head to the Panama for an afternoon splashing in the pools.

Access: From Alausi catch the bus to Huigra ($1) from here you can probably get a lift with one of the locals or hitch a ride westward. It’s about 10minutes to the Panama and 20mins to the Angus.
